Now broadcasting from twenty minutes into the future.

NETWORK XXIII is a small fleet of services on the open Internet: mail, chat, news, links, relays. Run by people, not a platform, from a NetBSD box called Roanoke.

Programme guide

What's on

Every service we run is a channel. ON AIR means you can use it now. STAND BY means it's being built; OFF AIR means it's between seasons.

Station map

Sectors

Where each channel lives on the station. Colour-coded, like the real thing.

Blue sector

Command and core. Mail, DNS, the things that must not go down.

Red sector

Communications. Chat, Usenet, the BBS. The loud part of the station.

Green sector

Diplomatic quarters. The social site, once the ambassadors agree on anything.

Brown sector

Downbelow. Half-finished, unmaintained, being revived. Watch your step.

Grey sector

Infrastructure and relays. Tor nodes, backups, the hum in the walls.

Ship's log · as kept by the Android

Recent entries

  • Entry 1We woke up with seven services and no memory of why. Investigating. The Android assures us the mail works.

  • BackupsNightly backups now actually run, fleet-wide. The previous crew left a scheduler queuing the wrong command for three years. We do not speak of it.

  • Mail cutoverMail moved to its own ship. Roanoke only forwards now and no longer answers port 25 to strangers.

  • ChitChat on airOur own browser chat docked and opened to the public. All systems nominal. I have taken the liberty of restarting nothing.

The hosts behind the channels. All NetBSD, all built nightly from source by the same cron job.
